A bookworm's archieve!

Books! They mean to me a whole other world...a world where there's no hint of the worldly problems i have to face in my real life! They provide me an escape route from all the tiresome routines of life....

I don't exactly remember when i became a voracious(a word i always associate with eating something greedily!!) reader. In the beginning, the scope was limited to kiddie books, picture magazines, moral stories and alike. As years went by, the mind longed for more. Its when i discovered two things which would become my passions in life...comedy and mystery. Sherlock Holmes, the dweller of 221B Baker Street, a remarkable man and an outstanding detective, left an undelible mark on me. I may say that my ambition to join the civil services(IPS...if i can!!) was largely shaped by the influence of this man's unforgettable adventures. The stories have been written in so fine a style, laced with the typical, so famous English sense of humour, that we can't just accept the fact that Holmes is a figment of a pure genius's imagination!! Another man though a real one(!), who has been a passive factor shaping my personality is the veteran writer, actor, musicin, singer, and an entertainer all rolled into 1....PL Deshpande...or more appropriately...Pu La! He taught me to laugh through the good and bad times, to dismiss the difficulties in life with a smile on my face...I salute him!...

Since then, i have been specially interested in mystery and comic novels. I make mo discrimination as to the language...marathi suits me as well as does l'anglais!..Some of my other favourites include
The Bourne Identity ...My all time favourite!!
The Odessa File... The magic of Forsyth at its best...
A matter of honour...The excitements never stops!
Shantaram...Reading it is has a profound impact on the philosophy of ones life..its really a book which deserves the greatest honour...

Well the list will be pretty long if i continue!.. So as you can see, i am a quite a book lover..Really i am totally indebted to the books...for without them..life would as drab and mellow..as a quiet wintery eve!!
